In this game, two or more players become "Illuminators" and use magic inks to summon a team of Disney characters, known as glimmers, who take on a look both familiar and fantastical. Players explore the realm of Lorcana together with their team of glimmers, trying to be the first to collect 20 "legend" points. In each game, players will play characters, objects, locations, and actions – including songs – from their hand and choose whether to send the characters on an adventure or use them to challenge opponents' characters in an attempt to slow them down.

In Glittering Skies, a big party is held in the realm of Lorcana to celebrate the recent victory against Ursula in the previous set, Ursula's Returns. Although most of Lorcana participates in the lively and fun activities, a new mystery unfolds as our Illuminators search for a way to repair the increasingly severe damage that Ursula's glimmer has caused to the Great Illuminarium.
